Does anyone have a Garmin or Polar?

I really want to invest in a watch in the next few weeks that will track how far I’m running. Does anyone have a Garmin or Polar? I’ve read loads online and can’t decided between the two.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 10. It's basic and does everything I need. I love it. And as a bonus, it's pink 😊

Will have a look, thank you. The pink might just sway me!

There were other colours too, but you can't beat pink

I have the cheaper F10 and the slightly dear F15. The F10 is just fine. I am not bothered about fine tooth comb stats or heart rate. I also am on a tiny budget. I like the virtual pacer in Garmin but it seems not to be a feature on some of the more expensive watches 🤷‍♀️

I bought the F15 for longer battery life but felt badly let down when it was no better than the F10, despite the promises 🤨😤

Some of the prices of these watches are crazy 😳.

Oh I know, some of them are hundreds! Will take a look, thank you.

Another Garmin Forerunner 10 and very happy with it! You could also try downloading one of the free apps - I used to use Runkeeper and it did all that I needed using the gps on my phone.🙂

Thank you. I’ve tried a couple of the apps but don’t want to always have to carry my phone with me 😊

I splashed out on a Garmin Forerunner 645M as I wanted something that could do music too so I could leave my phone at home (fabulous feeling!)

Way more than I intended to spend but I'm really happy with it.

Oh yes, I never thought of not having music if I didn’t have my phone! This isn’t as easy as I thought........

🤣😂 tell me about it!! I spent weeks comparing and pricing and deciding! I first wanted a Samsung Gear 2 pro but they don't even offer a S size in the UK plus reviews were patchy. Then I was about to order the TomTom spark cardio+music which is much cheaper when I discovered that TomTom are leaving the wearables market so updates and longevity could be a problem. In the end I just gave in and went with the 645M.😁

I just want something that will track my distance and play my music but it seems to have that, it’s hundreds of pound and lots more fancy features on the watch that I’ll never use 😕.

Yep. Almost worth sticking with the smartphone for now. I only went for it as I had also been looking at a HRM for my cycling and poss just for interest with running and the 645m has a decent optical Heart rate montior too. I also hoped the added investment would tie me in.

Thanks for the advice. Might step away from google for now! I totally get what you mean with the added investment tying you in 😊

Years and years ago I had a Polar - and loved it. Now I've got a Garmin Forerunner 235 - and I love it. Watches can do a lot more than they used to. But the F235 can't play music (I don't think - there are so many little surprises!).

Same as JaySeeSkinny, I have Garmin ForeRunner 235. Absolutely bombproof and I love it. Highly recommend piece of kit.
