Be gone Ye stinky cold

Had a stinker of a cold since Sat but did the sensible thing and rested completely, and I think it paid off - got myself out today for a 5k run and did it in 34.50 😳 Can’t believe it; it’s 1.22 mins faster than my 1st 5k at the Parkrun. Have to say though that I really miss Sarah (Millicam) spurring me on. I felt quite lonely without her; like the first time you swim without arm bands!! Feeling suitably invigorated though 👍 😃

That's amazing. I have been carrying a cold since just after xmas, thankfully only a head cold so it hasn't stopped me. But here's hoping when it does go I'll get such a great gain.

I do wonder though if I simply didn't run and go to the gym for a week whether I'd notice a nice uplift in performance due to rest.

I know what you mean about letting go of the app/podcast, I did my parkrun listening to laura and have since done all my runs with the podcast for wk9 or the c25k+ ones. Maybe tonight I will go solo :)

Well done you! I’m also struggling with a flu and almost two weeks off now. Likewise, I had also done my 1st Parkrun and was delighted but am now panicking incase I’ve lost all my stamina! Hoping to run tomorrow but unsure how long to run for after 2 weeks laid up. 🤷‍♀️

The hardest part I find is the discipline to get up & go. I set my goal at 5k and promised myself to run non-stop telling myself all the while that ‘I can do this’. And before I know it I’m in my stride and the belief I’ve been clinging to becomes reality. I think at that point I start smiling to myself haha. The C25K programme has taught me so much and especially to dig deep into myself. Today’s result was a lovely surprise made possible from all that’s gone before. Today, I felt with conviction - I’m a runner. Yeeay. 😁
