I noticed as the weeks went on that Garmin connect indicates when you run along courses, and segments of courses, that other runners have created. I only noticed because there is a 1 km segment at the start of my usual 30 minute loop. I got a flag to show I had appeared on the leader board. Near the bottom so could also be called 'loser board'. (I guess they feel that wouldn't have the same motivational effect though.)
So, I wasn't having that. Set off this morning. Walked around in circles a bit to get to the right point for when Laura says "Right lets go".
Off I went. Like an elderly, crippled whippet. Up the hill.
And after the first k I'm blowing out of every valve like an old steam engine. Captain Mainwaring's words brought to mind.
Still, managed not to stop. Just slowed down a bit. (Lot actually. Got overtaken by the odd snail.) Got a stitch at 17 minutes. My first since I started C25K.
Finished 30 minutes. Garmin watch showed same average pace and distance as my first week 9 run. Even better, everything hurts slightly less than normal. I might try mixing up the pace a bit in future. Not like today though.
Yours
Pike.
