Painful shins

Hi all, I am due to run my W4R2 today and I’m worried about my shins. When I did my last run my shins started to hurt. Any advice on how to ease the pain? I’ve recently brought new trainers with insoles so that can’t be the problem.

From what I've read, it's not the trainers being old that's the problem, is whether they fit your gait. Id get your gait analysed and see what they say. Other than that, soft ground? You really shouldn't run through pain though. Run through aches, run through discomfort, but not pain, you'll just make it worse

Are you over-striding? Take shorter, more deliberate steps.

Slow it down and take shorter steps.

New trainers with insoles? Were they recommended by an expert in a running shop after gait analysis, or you chose them yourself? could be they're not suitable for your gait..

Also, just slowing down may help..😊

I went to DW sports and I ran on a machine and they gave me a standard trainer and insole!? Is that right?

Apart from gait analysis search some leg exercises on google. Both working for me. Hope this helps.

Not sure why they gave you the insoles if the shoes are right?

Try landing lightly... and slow down.. sometimes in our enthusiasm we tend to thump down a little :)

Try these maybe?

Thanks everyone for your advice! I just completed my run and it was fine :) just took smaller strides and tried to lander softer! Hoping the exercises will strengthen them too!
