Quite normal for this stage of the plan. Make sure you stretch well after the runs and double-check you have the right shoes!!! Ah, also, do calf strengthening exercises!!!

It would think it pretty normal at this stage, I know I had lots of spaces and pains in the early runs...lots of water through out the day to hydrate and then stretching before and after should help....

Normal! Sorry to say it, yep we all feel that. Just think about what you are doing? I assume as you are on this plan you have not been super mobile for a while? just like the rest of us. Well this poor old body of ours has had a bit of a shock, I think I would be more worried if you had started w2 and nothing hurt!.

Good to ask though and that is what makes this site amazing. So many people every week in exactly the same position you are, feeling just the way you are. What is even more amazing is so many elope that have "graduated" and completed w9 stay on the site and help the rest.

Well done and good lunch with w2r2 - Make sure to let us all know how you got on.

Some lovely auto corrects here if I'm not mistaken!(eloping graduates and the importance of lunch in week 2!) Totally agree that this is a wonderfully supportive forum though and sharing experiences really helps on the journey. I too remember those early aches as my body woke up to being used again!

Also worth mentioning that my shins hurt terribly if I walk too briskly - try slowing down a bit and see if it helps.

Check out shin splints on google or on this forum, they have been mentioned many times and plenty of info about exercises to combat them are posted too
