Not out of breath but heart rate rises and calfs ache

I am on week 8 and have just done the week with 3 25 minute runs. I expected to be out of breath but I am not. My heart rate rises steadily. The thing that stops me running any further is my calfs aching. Am I odd in not being out of breath.

If you are not out of breath you are running at a good training pace for you. Most new runners run too fast, hence they are out of breath.

Keep doing what you are doing and the legs will develop.

Well done.

Are you gently stretching the calves after running? You can also try massaging with the fingers and can also use a foam roller..
