New to c25k - only on week 2 - anyone else suffer with Achilles Tendernitis ? I do have anti inflammatories but try not to use them unless really bad. It's now starting to ache - I can't afford to buy top of the range running shoes bit have added a heal insert - so wonder if anyone has any tips on lessening the impact of running ?

You could run on grass, which reduces the impact.

Google Achilles tendinitis and check that your symptoms match. There is lots of advice out there. Do not run until inflammation and pain subside. If it persists get advice from a medical professional.

I have never paid as much for any item of clothing or footwear as I did for my last pair of road shoes...........it hurts but is also the best investment you can make in your fitness.

Can you actually afford not to have good shoes, fitted after a gait analysis?

A physio's fees will soon exceed the cost of shoes.

IannodaTruffe has given you some great tips... try very hard to land lightly too...I call it kissing the ground with your feet :)

Good shoes are really, really necessary.

I had a heel support , when I had a twinge in my Achilles tendon..( I had ruptured it some years previously) it worked well. I only wore it for a while though.

I have had this problem and it started before I started running I have been advised to do 15 calf raises with my toes on a step raise up into tiptoes and then bring my heels down in a slow motion doing this three times a day. and I have to say after about three weeks although not better they are not as painful, and I'm hoping for a full recovery!😀
