I use an arm band most of the time, in which I have my phone, my door key (taken off the fob), a tissue, and a card with my basic emergency info on it (contact + medical) in case I go arse over tit into a ditch. In summer I do use a Zikee waist belt, which has plenty of room for stuff, but I primarily use it for water (think John Wayne with two water bottles instead of colt 45s).
I use a belt but it is not a flip- belt. Mine has two pockets with zips, holds phone, keys , PR bar code, contact details, , bit of fuel if on a long run, etc. From Sports Direct about £6 or so.
I use a Spibelt - it is small enough that you don't feel it when you are running but big enough to take a phone, car keys etc.
I switched from an arm band to a belt a couple of weeks ago and I much prefer it. Mine is the FinBurst running belt for about a tenner on Amazon. I don't notice it at all when I'm running, whereas the arm band was always bothering me.
Do not buy a Karrimor from sports Direct; I bought one early on the C25K programe, 4 months on it came apart, i.e the zip broke and the stiching failed in a few places. No, I did not overfill it, my parkrun barcode, car key, some cloose change ( for a paned ' cuppa ' after the parkrun ) and my phone. Not worth the hassle of taking it back, absolute rubbish.
I alternate between a belt and armband. My belt is a flipbelt rip off - I think it's exactly the same, just with a much smaller price tag basically. Pros and cons. In the belt it's so much easier to access my phone to skip tracks or start Strava - which is practically impossible in an armband. However, I find the belt moves up and down as I run and I find it really uncomfortable after a while. The armband I don't really notice when I run. I use the little zipped pocket in my capris for car key, parkrun tag, money etc - it's just my phone that I need the armband/belt for.
I’ve been using the Karrimor Audio belt from Sports Direct for the past 4 months or so. I’d be lost without it. Holds my Parkrun Barcode, iPhone and car key. I find it very comfortable and wouldn’t know I was wearing it. It was very good value, so honestly was not expecting anything much from it for the price. But it has been great. Personally I have no complaints and would buy another.

I also have a Zikee, like mfamilias for warmer weather and longer runs
WI use an SD Karrimore one with enough room for phone, tissues, key and snack. There's also an ear phone hole to push cable throughThere are also two small bottles at either side which is great for longer runs. Bright pink piping round the edges too. Been using it a couple of years generally only once a week, if that.
