I have to run after work so at about 6pm, having had a sandwich at lunchtime and am lucky enough to have a local seafront that I can clatter along!! What's the consensus on when and what to eat before running......?

Not sure there is a consensus as we all differ. Me I am a coffee and water girl....
I think it really depends on how you feel during the run, Mr JCR if he doesn't eat little and often, visibly drains like a cartoon character... whereas me I just need the liquid.
That's when I do most of my running. I try to have a banana or other fruit about 4ish - time for it to go down but not running on totally empty. And drink lots of water all day (not just before the run). Remember to have a wee last thing before you set off or you'll be looking for the nearest WC!
