Aspire to get faster time over longer distance.

Just found C25k. Recently took up running to get fit, lose weight and get cholesterol down which appears to be working (although i call it old lady jogging). Just did 4.07km in 27 mins. I'd like to get faster and increase distance and aspire to doing a 10km. Any ideas on how to get the feet faster would be welcomed. I'm short so stride less than others - is that a valid excuse to take longer to run a distance : - )

Increasing your cadence is the safest way to increase your speed. Once you graduate you could try the C25K+ podcasts which help to stretch you.

There is also a Bridge to 10k forum for extending distance and a marathon and race support forum.......so you can go as far as you want.

Intrigued to see answers here myself. Not aiming to increase speed myself yet but am just curious, surely one day I will want to. Thanks for posting and good work on the cholesterol lowering!
