I was lucky enough to get some money for my birthday recently so I had my gait analysed and bought some running shoes to suit.

The main thing I've noticed about running in them is the dreaded shin-splints have disappeared.

Maybe check your footwear?

Hope you get through it anyway 😬

I went to "Up & Running" in Bournemouth. I believe it is part of a franchise. The guy there was called Simon and he was very good.

The gait analysis was free but I bought some running shoes for £80 (I was lucky, I had some birthday money).

The advice on this forum seems to be that it is not essential to get "proper" running shoes, but if you do want to get it done get it done at a shop that is run by someone that actually runs.
