Hurry knees

Is anybody getting painful knees? This has only happened this week W4. Think I might need a better pair of trainers. Don't want to damage my knees, but really don't want to stop!

Unless you have a pre-exisiting medical condtion it is highly unlikely you will danage your knees. They most probably ache because they are not used to the exercise. Rest on you rest dys. Stay hydrated. Do leg strengthening exercise - the knees rely on the muscles above and below for suport, so do squats and lunge etc every day.

I don't have any diagnosed medical issues, and never had sore knees until I took up running. They're much better now I've learned to listen to them - so I only wear flat shoes now ( :( ), don't increase my running time too fast, and take a short break from running altogether if they get painful. For me, the jump from week 3 to 4 was too much to do in one go - that's what started the soreness - but it was fine when I tried doing it gradually: repeating week 3 once, then again but running about an extra 30s on the end of each run segment, then doing week 4 but finishing the runs a little early, before finally doing week 4 properly. After that, there was no problem with them for the rest of the plan.

So yes, you're not likely to do damage, but if there's a previously unknown issue you might become aware of it. Listen to your body, to additional conditioning and strengthening exercises, and you'll be fine. :)

My wife's knees started complaining at about that run, she had a tad more rest and the pain faded away, she was using Lidl £13.99 trainers! They took her through c25k, but seemed to degrade after that, she treated herself to a new pair using my money!💰😒😁...

Thanks for all your advice and reassurance, I'll add in some strengthening and stretching excercises.
