Google is probably a better friend here, or your local council's website, if you are particularly wanting an organised group.

BUT it sounds as though you may not know that you can download the NHS Couch to 5k podcasts or install the OneYou app and do the C25K programme wherever you are. Most of us here have done the programme that way.

Many running clubs run beginners courses, often based on C25K, and you may find something at your local leisure centre.

While having running buddies is great, in my opinion you are better off downloading the app or podcasts and doing the programme by yourself, as GM says.

You take it at your own pace, repeating if necessary and you will develop the will power, self discipline and determination to become a runner.

Good luck, it is worth the effort.

You can do C25K on a treadmill or in the great outdoors - plenty of people have done one or the other, or a mixture, and done brilliantly.

BUT - you have a much greater range, if I can put it that way, if you run outdoors, and people do say that they find it harder to switch from a treadmill to outdoors. Personally, I hate, loathe and detest running on a dreadmill - it's hot, it's repetitive, and it's insanely boring. I want to give up after only a few minutes - and I think I've been running for a lot longer than I actually have been. However, that's just my personal preference, and there are a lot of people who don't run outside for various reasons.

Whichever you choose, download the podcasts and get started. That's the important thing! All the very best to you - come back on here and tell us how your first run went :)

Yes, I agree with GM and IT - better to do it at your own pace, you could join a club later...

I think very few of us did C25k with an organized club - I think there maybe aren't many such clubs. But also, the advantages of using the C25 app* either on your own or with friends are that (a) you can go out whenever it suits you rather than having to be available at a time that might not suit and (b) you can go at exactly the pace that is right for you.

*I didn't have a smart enough phone when I did C25k so I just copied the plan down onto a piece of paper and used that! I didn't know about this forum either but I wish I had. I think there is LOTS of great support to be had by hanging around here. :)
