How many runs per week?

Hi, I'm thinking of starting the couch to 5k and have seen that there are apps available to help, but they don't seem to say how many times each week you go out running, does anyone know, please?

Many thanks

Amanda

Hi

As long as you have at least 1 rest day after each run day that's the most important thing and the rule!

So some weeks you may have 3 run days (Tues, Thurs, Sat) but some you may have 4. (Mon, We'd, Fri, Sun).

Most importantly follow your own lifestyle an listen to your body. Many people do it Monday, Wednesday, Friday and rest on weekend. Some even do it twice a week only.

Hi Amanda, some weeks I do Monday, Wednesday, Friday, then Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday. Depends on what's going on with life. What time of day was you thinking of going? Good luck with the programme, it really does work.

Hi there and a huge welcome:)

This is an amazing programme and you won't regret starting it..the support is incredible.

The important thing is slow and steady... at least one day between runs, take more if you need to..( I run Sunday, Tuesday and Friday). rest days are really, really important.

Folk do it there way, and in the time that suits them and life :) Your journey, so fit it around yourself :)

Here is a link with a breakdown of the runs... :)

Like Vanessa291 I plan each week around my work and other commitments. I like to have one run at the weekend so there is no pressure to get out of the door afterwards as I'm a morning runner. It's a fantastic program, just take it at your own pace and you will succeed. Lots of luck - go on get out for the first run 😀

As others have said you can do 4 every other week. If you are just starting then I would stick with just 3 each week to give your body time to adjust to the new exercises.

I am a morning person so run Tuesday and Thursdays at silly o'clock (about 430am) and then either Saturday or Sunday morning but just slightly later at about 6am.

Hi,

I run/walk/stagger early in the morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then either Saturday or Sunday mornings depending on what else I'm doing over the weekend.

Only thing I would say about the apps is that I find the podcast better because I have actually got it with me downloaded onto my phone. When I used the App, if I went out of (4G? 3G?) range the whole thing stopped working - no timings or instructions - and it didn't catch up until I got home. I run in the countryside so that may not be a problem for you.

Good luck though, find what works for you and go for it!

Hi . I just started my second week yesterday. It's 3 times a week . It's important to have a rest day in between runs . Iv downloaded the one you couch 25k app on my phone .you can tick off the days when you've completed the run. It talks you through each run as you go .

Yap. .. It is best to set 3 days a week with a day rest in between and allow yourself two rest after every third run thus after completing each week
