Here is am writing again about a fantastic run. As the title says on promise I am not gloating but as my running is a bit of a secret apart from with my immediate family (and they don't get it) this is my only outlet. My mum, who I would normally talk to has a habit of calling me fat, making a joke about me exercising or hijacking any hobby I try to take up. So I am sorry guys you are my target audience.
I have been using the asics app to help me plan my runs since graduation. The plan has been fine and I have been additional get extra runs in between. The pace to be honest has been very tame and I have usually faster. However today's run called for 3.2km at race pace. That being 6.32 mins/km. A massive jump from my fastest pace ofor around 7.10. I anticipated failure. But ....I only went and did it. I met race pace and beat it by a massive 3 seconds. Yay me. I may hit that elusive 30 mins 5km yet.
Thanks for being my sounding board.

Well done! Enjoy the feelings of achievement - it's wonderful when we fall in love with something like we -seem to - do with running. It's something that is ours alone. And I hope it's helping you to discover a sense of belief in yourself.
It can be extremely damaging to have a family who enjoy criticising ( I know), but it makes every success that little bit sweeter. Hold that thought next time the harsh words come your way - you're the one proving to yourself and the rest of the world that you can set a goal and achieve it.
Amazing, well done!!! We love to hear about successes so keep them coming! I understand how you feel as I also kept everything a secret from everybody too until I told my parents on week 7 who were far more proud than I ever expect. Tonight I shared my graduation 5k run stats with the world on facebook! Would never have dreamt about doing something like that before but I've had nothing but positivity so far which is lovely.
Positivity is all you'll get here from us anyway. Well done!! I hope I can up my pace and speed to match that someday!
Brilliant, well done. If it's any consolation whenever I try and tell my son how many minutes I've run, he rolls his eyes and says "mum, no-one cares"! Except I'm doing this for me as many of us are x
That's fantastic! Well done. I know what you mean, when I was training for the London marathon lots of people would say - "why are doing that? You don't HAVE to do it... Why don't you just do shorter runs " etc etc but we all do this thing called running for ourselves. Keep it up - you are doing really well!
