...doing some consolidation runs after graduation and before I up my distances (to try and reach that Central Park run of 8K) ..so this time I chose a 'destination' run from which I knew I'd have to walk home - but it's one my daughter will eventually be able to picture and 'feel' how far her Mum had run... so from our village to the next village and my favorite two shops - one selling beautiful gifts/jewelry/cards - and where I ended up buying her birthday card number THREE - oops, and across the road a lovely little boutique - which is where the £65 comes in....one beautiful maxi dress and one silk top for New York nights out later - and £65 less in the bank ;) Although, I do confess I didn't go into the shops ON my run - I think they'd have thrown me out - as they're pretty upmarket and I was of course a very sweaty mess - oh, I forgot to say it was a very unusually boiling hot day, which was another reason for getting out there and challenging myself in the heat! So, anyway, I ran the 5K (36 minutes this time - but I tell you this is the first time the first 5 minutes didn't actually kill me) and 'window' shopped - then had a wonderful walk home again in the sunshine - oh, and I treated myself on the way home too...and this is where it gets weird..normally I'd have chosen a Magnum but I actually WANTED an apple and bought one from the farm shop on the way back...honestly I actually think I might have been taken over by Aliens!!! Me, choosing to eat apples over Magnums - the world's gone mad I tell you....

Loved your post! Well done you... on all levels!

I was taken over by aliens, a while back, whilst running with son-in law...... but not in a good way.:)

The dress and top sound wonderful... so, you craved an apple... AND bought non-running gear...two PBs??? :)

The world has indeed been taken over by aliens! I can feel it too. I think about running ALL THE TIME and when I eat I think about how different foods are going to affect my weight and hence in the long run my running. We have been brainwashed :-)
