Hi,
Well the Sun was shining and the sky blue... And after a bad night sleep wise and a day that saw me feeling very tired I pulled on the Lycra and got everything ready I opened the door and set off on the 5 minute warm up. It got to the point to start the run and as I started a mother walking with 2 children managed to take up the whole of the pavement so while running on the spot and waiting for a car to pass then off and on with the run.... π There was a lovely cool breeze flowing round and I was regretting not getting shorts π₯ But Scotland and the North England are more important to me than my comfort π¨βοΈ
Soon Laura came on to say '5 Minutes....' And I was in the zone and met the same Woman as the other day walking her Highland Terrier and smiled and said 'Thank You' as we passed then on down the hill and started to climb the hill. As Laura came on to say 'That's 10 Minutes...' I saw a Young Lady in shorts and top crossing the road and I don't know about You but when I see a 'Fellow Runner' wearing a headset I say to myself 'Are they doing or have they done the C25K?' And then turned the corner and I could see her in front walking and again thought 'I wonder if she is on C25K what week she is on?' And then remembering the days when I walked getting my breath back and praying π That My legs lasted!! I saw her look back and then remembered when I had a 'Runner' coming up behind me how I watched not wanting to get in their way... I just ran on and then I could see her glance again and I said to myself 'I'm sorry Love I'm doing my pace and I'm not going to speed up and overtake You' and so finally I did overtake her and I thought about saying something and thought maybe not what if she is just out walking... π³ So embarrassing .
So then crossed the road and started the final bit of the run and sore a lovely sight of a mature couple walking holding hands and thought what a magical day it was and so I turned and glanced at my watch... I had been running for 18 minutes and new that this was a road that would take me 8 minutes up and down so needed to extend by 4 minutes...π€ I was feeling very good considering the amount of sleep but I thought that 'Mother Nature' had put on such a display she had lifted my spirits and apparently my legs!!!! Then Laura came on to say 'Well done that's 20 Minutes...' And I stretched out and soon reached then end of the road which then turns and goes on further but goes down hill!! Well I was feeling good so decided to test myself and went down keeping a note of the time and after 2 minutes I turned and started the climb which is quite steep!! But legs were good.
Final 5 Minutes as Laura had just told me and so as I passed the 'Jolly Farmer' pub and saw 4 guys having a pint (I was temptedπΊ) but kept going and then Laura came on to say 'That's it slow down...' And so I started to walk and crossed the road and just enjoyed the walk home thinking to myself that Friday is not going to be like this but hey it doesn't matter make the most of this weather βοΈ And enjoy the moment!! Can't wait till Friday and the final run of C25K but have already downloaded the C25K+ podcasts so I'm ready for the next chapter.. π€ To all follow 'Runners' I hope if You ran Yesterday You had as much fun as I did.... To the Young Lady in shorts and top if You are doing this C25K and are following this forum Keep on going if You saw that OldPapaBear pass You he had problems running for 90 seconds 11 Weeks ago and look at him now π So YOU can do this it just takes time and patience and a lot of Wonderful New Friends who will pick YOU up when YOUR down and give advice and point YOU in the right direction when YOUR body (Posture or Breathing) needs help... Good Luck to everyone and remember Keep On Running π And I'll see all of YOU at My Virtual Finishing Line ππ π½πΎ
