Swollen knuckles

I get 2 or 3 swollen knuckles on my left hand on & off. Its extremely painful. Not sure what could be the cause. Any suggestions

It could be gout! I get this in my big toe if I'm not careful. I gave up alcohol and took up drinking fruit juice instead. That is til I found it wreaked havoc with my joints, so I don't drink fruit juice either now. I take a daily Omega 3 fish oil capsule and that's all I need to keep the pain at bay. Over Christmas I had a flare up simply as I had some mince pies made with a port mincemeat and sherry trifle. Lesson learned

I'm not saying your problem is gout, but that it's a possibility.

If it feels like a burning sting then it might be gout. I agree alcohol sets it off and also citrus fruits. Cherry juice is the stuff to drink to reduce inflammation and, when you can get them, a few fresh cherries each day. All this has helped me but I do miss fresh orange juice in the mornings. My hand joints are swollen and my GP is adamant it is osteoarthritis, but all the symptoms tie in with gout. I'll look into the Omega 3 capsules - thanks!
