Hi - so finished week 9 today and managed 5k in 29:37 so amazed where I've come from week 1 . I remember one of the goals was to run past the Blue Anchor in Hammersmith on a summers evening without feeling self conscious and now care not a jot !
Thing is I've been running in cheap Nike's from wonderful sports direct - how / where do u start on trading up to proper running trainers ? Safe to order online or do I need to visit a specialist ?

People usually advise gait analysis, and then try several pairs of shoes suggested by the shop. If you have a budget, tell them beforehand. Once you know what kind of shoes you need you can get future pairs on the net. Be careful about shoe size. You'll need a half to a full size bigger than your everyday shoes, and check that the size is UK and not US.
well done on finishing and that is a good time too.
I think we should all meet up outside the Blue Anchor and applaud you as you run past Well done for achieving your goal, and congratulations for graduating!
Why don't you visit a specialist, establish which shoe and size are the best adapted to your footsies, then go home and check out whether you can find the same thing cheaper on line?
no not really - always seem to find an excuse for not exercising - if truth be told it took more like 12 weeks as opposed to 9 as I revisited a few weeks until I was happy - tried to run many times before but didn't know when to walk, when to run and when to stop ! Laura's helped tremendously !
Congratulations! Excellent time too! I would say a visit to your local running shop is in order. Definitely worth doing if you want to carry on running regularly. Well done.
