This premiss of this article is so depressing and so true. The pathologising of the 'different' in society starts in school and carries on into adulthood. Grrrr, it's one of my real bugbears. I assume some people in authority/medics have never seen a normal distribution curve, otherwise they'd understand that being different doesn't necessarily equate to being ill or deviant.

Conforming is dull, but sometimes necessary. The good thing though is that as you get older, you can get away with conforming less and not be held up for it. My Grandma used to say the best part about getting old was being allowed to be cantankerous. We all rolled our eyes and assumed she must have got old very young!!!

Agree!!! The picture really reminded me of the inserted TED talk which has an interesting tale of a young dancer in it.
