The description of what the Quests are about are below.
What the quest is:-
The quest takes six weeks. You can join any time within that six weeks.
The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a graduate or about to graduate to join the quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put
I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.
At the end, only for those that would like to, we each put out longest run of the quest and it is then marked on a virtual run we are doing from John O Groats to Lands End.
Then it all starts again for another six week Quest.

This week has gone well. I feel like I am back in The swing of things. Managed my 10km over three runs and a 1km swim. But also managed lots of walks with my other half which was nice. It's getting to that time of year were we both have a bit more time at the weekend for long walks so I want to make sure I fit that into my exercise schedule as that is precious time.
I am enjoying my running as well at the moment the pressure has been taken off and every run feels like I am getting somewhere. Happy running to all.
My parents are visiting so our routine is a little mixed up which meant I only managed 2 runs last week. But they were good. Tuesday evening I did the Speed podcast. Only did 2km but definately felt like I'd had a good workout after. Then Saturday morning I did 5k, taking 45 minutes for it, which is reasonable for me. Aiming for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday this week...
Forgot to sign up this time RFC, but count me in. I'm running outside again, so my challenge will be to try work my way back up to 5k again. Keep your fingers crossed for me x
Hi RFC - can I join in please? I'll be doing my Graduation Run on Wednesday morning ... eeek!!!!! After that I would like to build up my distance towards running 5km (at the moment I can just about manage 4km in the 30 minute run of the week 9 podcast) so that would be a good target for me.
Managed 4 runs last week - got Monday and Sunday into the same week.
Sunday was my first 6k without walking 35:14 which I'm pretty pleased with.

Haven't had the best of weeks, first I did the "Speed" podcast, that all went well, I found it too easy really. Then I did the "Stamina" one, found that really really hard, far too fast for me, I felt really quite discouraged at the end, and totally knackered! Yesterday was going to be a nice easy run just for myself, no pressure or time in mind, but I woke up to heavy fog. Went out anyway, but had a grim run, I'm asthmatic and think next foggy morning I will turn over and go back to sleep!! It's all learning, so that's good, I'm finding out what my limits are.
On a good note, I will be going back to UK early, lovely flat Cambridge! I will probably think of this next couple of weeks as maintenance, I shall be busy packing etc, looking forward to my first Parkrun on 11th Oct.
A good start to my overall Quest aim to do 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise a week (as per government guidelines) I did 265 minutes! A 31 minute run, a 1km swim (achieving my sub-goal for the whole Quest) which took 42 minutes and the rest was quite brisk walking for me, starting with what turned out to be an overambitious walk which involved walking quite a way along a narrow road with massive lorries whizzing by in the drizzle and a longer route due to cows with calves in a field that we didn't care to risk with a dog. Also walked very briskly at the end as late for school pickup and no phone reception.
Hooray for dogs who do get you out walking (I am sure I read somewhere that dog owners are most likely to achieve government guidelines) and I discovered a new to me path and community orchard.
Only managed two runs last week ...both 5.2K.Plans for the longer run(10K) scuppered by the fog and /or the heat, plus a couple of really bad nights sleep, which meant I missed my early
' cool ' spot as I'd slept late to compensate .
Hmmm....if I had a report card it would definitely have "Could do better" scrawled over it
A better start ( so far) to Week 2... 5.7 run yesterday morning and a 10K (approx) bike ride this afternoon as temperatures had cooled a bit and there was a nice breeze.
On the quest front, after signing up last week I was really motivated to tackle 'the big hill'. Thus far I had only made it a third of the way up, but told myself I had to get there in six weeks. Low and behold, the stars aligned and I made it to the top - about 2.5k of a gentle-but-steep-enough uphill. So my original quest goal is 'completed' so to speak, but that doesn't mean I can replicate it. So I'm going to tackle this bad boy once a week for the duration of the quest until I'm sure I can make it up the hill on the average run.
I have been having a positive attitude to my hills slopes and inclines, and have been surprised by what I can do. Have not yet managed any major hills, but baby steps...
I find it much easier if I don't look up to see how far i still have to go. Once I see how far the crest of the slope is, my legs get in a panic and make me walk!
