Right near home, 8.2 miles (just over 13K) - along almost the same route as the HM in Feb (but in reverse)... And they have pacers as well... sounds like I might be convincing myself...
Dan? TT?
EDIT: I haven't run the HM yet.. that's in Feb NEXT year..
EDIT: I've only gone and entered it... Laura didn't tell me how mad I'd become!
Haven't done the half yet - this would be part of the training for it. My half is in Feb 2015!
I've done a 10K recently and just did a 12K long run so 13K in a few months under race conditions isn't an impossible ask... I won't be up front, but I'll finish it...
Oh dear - the deed is done... Aussie is running 8.2 miles on the 12th October (and here I was thinking about doing that 10K again - what's an extra 3K between friends eh?)...
It will be a good training run for the HM though - and it'll be cooler in October... and it's flat...
Ah - I'm easily influenced... in fact, I'd signed up before you'd responded... hopeless I tell you...
And there's a 10K race 6 days later that I may sign up for as well...
Steady on Aussie, a 13k and a 10k within a week is a bit like overkill, mate. Think of your joints. The 13k sound brilliant though and ticks all the boxes. Wonder if DZ and TT will pick up the challenge?
I only turn my back on this forum briefly and end up missing all sorts of goings on! Was going to say 'go for it', and there you are, signed up and sorted! Great training! Have fun x
You can go steady. You don't have to race. If you try and race em all you'll kill yourself. I know you're like a kid in a sweet shop but you know what too many sweets does for ya!
You should be able to hack it though Aussie with your running legs. If you keep steadily training you should be fine. Go slow and walk when you need to!
This does look like a gud'un though, you're running 12/13ths of that already
So - yours truly is pretty much certifiable...
In order to recover from the 8.2 mile run on the 12th of October, I shall be running 6.2 miles on the 18th October as part of the Richmond Riverside Run series... what better way to recover...
I shall go slow people... "Recovery Run @ A Race Event"... Aussie gone mad!
Ooh, 8.2 miles, sounds perfect and totally manageable. What an unusual distance though - how did you discover this race?
Thing is I've got my 10 mile race the week after (the day after your Riverside 10k), and it's my longest distance yet - would this be a good practice run I wonder, or should I be tapering?
You'd need to take it easy on this one if you used it as a training run for the 10 miler... up to you!
I just did a search for "10K runs near me" and this popped up.. I remember it running last year (before I ran)... it's a strange distance alright.. they do the 8.2, 16 and 24 mile distances (ie. up to 3 laps) and a 24 mile relay race too (3 x 8 mile)...
