Hi and welcome to the Tri-ing to succeed quest.

The description of what the Quests are about are below.

Firstly thank you all for your well wishes when I wasn't feeling my best last week. I am feeling a lot better today and after two days walking I am ready to go out for my run today.

The Quest are set up to help you achieve whatever your personal goal is.

This Quest is all the accumulated quests since I graduated coming to fruition. 14 months ago I started learning to run with the program. In four weeks time I will be competing in my first ever baby triathlon. I will probably be one of the slowest In the pack. I am aiming to finish my 400m swim, 15km cycle and 5km run in a total of 3.05 hours.

The reason I am mentioning my times so proudly is that they are slow in the great schemes of things but the fact I am going to go and try (No defiantly finish) this triathlon is an major achievement for my 47 (3 days off 48) year old bones that has avoided cycling and running her whole life. These two sports are completely new to me. I never grew up with a bike and as I have found out I am a nervous cyclist.

Without learning to run 14 months ago I could never of dreamed this body was capable of even attempting the training never mind thinking there is a chance I am going to complete it.

So that's why this Quest is called Tri-ing to succeed

What the quest is:-

The quest takes six weeks. You can join any time within that six weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a graduate or about to graduate to join the quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.

At the end, only for those that would like to, we each put out longest run of the quest and it is then marked on a virtual run we are doing from John O Groats to Lands End.

Then it all starts again for another six week Quest.

I would like to join the Quest please. I graduated at the end of June, having started C25K in mid April. I want to run in a 10K event at the end of September, so am trying, not very successfully, to increase my distance. I'm not managing to much more than 6.5K at the moment, so would like to be up to 8K by the end of the month. It's great to make it official by writing it down!

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to run 120km over the 6 weeks.

Count me in please Rfc. After recent hip problem, holiday break and illness I just want to get back into running 3 times a week...getting back to 5K + runs and most importantly....enjoying it again :) On 31st August it will be 1 year since my graduation...I don't want to let myself down.

I got a 3K run done and dusted first thing this morning...after what seems like such a long break..so am quite chuffed about that ... its a start :)

Really glad to hear you are feeling better and back to running again Rfc.....good luck with the training....and Happy Birthday for Thursday :)

Happy Running all x

Please count me in again :-) I would like to complete my current 10k training (only 3 weeks left, injury and illness permitting, yay!!), and to then carry out some timed 5k and 10k runs, like Parkrun. I hope these will give me a baseline of my current performance. I then want to implement a revised diet and a new strength programme, and to restart my 10k training with a focus on gaining speed.

A very happy birthday to you and enjoy being 48 years young :-)

Please count me in too - I'm also doing (an even littler!) triathlon on Sept 14th consisting of a 40m swim, 12km bike ride and 2.5km run. I know I can do each of the 3 things individually but putting them together is a challenge - I've never experienced such jelly legs as when you try to run after getting off a bike! I'd just like to complete the event x

Count me in too please. I really really hope to be running again before the end of the quest and that is my big goal. My other one is to get to the gym at least twice a week to try build up my quads and core strength to support my running.

So glad you're feeling better. Good luck with the triathlon and happy birthday for Thursday :)

Hello, can you count me in too. I need to get my running mojo back again My aim is to run a minimum of 3 times a week ideally 4. one of which to be at least 10k. Good luck luck with the triathlon. Look forward to hearing how you get on.

I'm in again please! A very happy birthday to you, and good luck with your triathlon. Slow and steady will do it nicely I would have thought - then then you've been thoroughly bitten by the bug you can up your speeds :D

I'm aiming to run twice per week this time with one run of those a 5k. Hopefully this will build me up for this race in October in good time. Having said that, I won't be running at all this week or the early half of next because I've decided not to take my kit to Singapore. It's about 32C and stormy and I don't do heat and the hotel doesn't have a proper gym, so running will have to wait until I get back. Happy running to everyone else though!

Count me on too please! So glad to hear you're feeling better and such an amazing achievement heading into your first triathlon! I'm aiming to increase my distance over the next six weeks to 15k, from a comfortable 12k, in prep for a race in October - and gearing up for my first ever HM in March :) Thanks, and Happy (early) birthday!

Count me in again.

In keeping with the theme, put me down for:

25kms run over the 6 weeks (as I didn't quite manage that this time)

30 x 25m lengths in the pool (in one session - I think the most I've ever done is 24-26)

2 bike rides (one more than the most recent Quest)

And to support this:

One hip opener yoga session

One S&F session (if I can manage to download it properly - currently when I click on it, instead of Week 5 S&F with no intro, I get Laura saying "Welcome to Speed". But I get told I have to upgrade my system software to be able to download afresh)

And losing 3kgs!

Please add me in again RfC :)

I plan to keep on with my 3 runs per week, minimum of 30minutes each run.

One swim per week for August, minimum 35 lengths each tim.

Many swims per week after that, cos I'm off to Soller again for 9 days.

I am also determined to keep running on my hols. I did week 7 and 8 in Mallorca last Sept so I know I can do it.

Finally, have a lovely birthday on Thursday!

Count me in this time too please.

My aim is to carry on doing 2 or 3 x 5k's a week. Really can't decide where to go from here! Not sure about 10k, think I'm more of a shorter distance gal, but looking for a new challenge. Thinking of rejoining the gym when we're home for the winter to get some rowing and cross training in again and a bit of swimming (for swimming read sitting in the jacuzzi).

Talking of home, we've turned round and are heading that way. Looking at the canal planner, my strength/fitness exercises during this quest will mainly be locks and swing bridges. At least 219 locks and 39 bridges to go! Plenty of pubs as well though ;)

Good luck to everyone for their quests.

HI RFC. Glad you are feeling better. Count me in - I will pledge to run 3 times per week and try to get upwards of 5k between now and the end of the quest.

I'm in

Love name of this quest RFC and can see how much this one means to you . Like you I was never a bike person - always afraid of falling off so well done you for starting to run and learning to ride bike. Already looking forward to reading your post triathlon story .

After months of dithering have finally entered 10 k race. Womens running 10 k Strathclyde park on 6th sept Yup in just over 4 weeks time . Following bupa training prog . 1xparkrun , 1x running club session,1x 30/40 easy run, 1x run increasing distance by 10% So probably won't have run 10 k before race which is not ideal but I'm feeling unbelievably calm about whole thing! Can someone please remind me I said that when I start panicking and doubting myself in next few weeks .

Good luck and happy running to everyone with this quest
