Not sure what prompted this posting, but it does look yummy. (Wanders off with rumbling stomach.....)

Someone asked for it, and it saved writing it out.

Give it a go, it really is worth it.

A glass of a well chilled crisp white helps it slip down.

Sounds perfect for an early summer's evening - even better with the white wine!

Looks great, but it's not quite like the local tabbouleh here. Not wanting to offend anyone at all, because it does look tasty. If you want to try a "proper" Lebanese version of the salad, then look below. If you're happy to eat what looks like a delicious salad, then ignore this:

It's missing mint which is normally in there in varying proportions with the parsley - I prefer much less mint than parsley. They don't use garlic or cucumber in the recipe here, but do add a small amount of mixed spice (which here is allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg and cinnamon oil), and chop up normal sized tomatoes rather than using cherry tomatoes. And of course it should be burghal wheat rather than lentils, but they do at least imply in the title that there's something different. It's usually served with lettuce leaves which you use to scoop up the salad and you can then roll it up to eat.

Sah-tain! (Which literally means double your health, but is best translated into French: "bon appetit" because we don't have an equivalent greeting to say when people start eating - "enjoy" doesn't seem to have much meaning in comparison...).

Thanks for that. I'm all for trying a more authentic dish, so I will give it a try.

'My' recipe come from Runner's World, and so not from a cook book.

I like the lettuce leaves too, so guess who's popping out to buy the ingredients this week?

Just made this for my tea - delicious!

So pleased you liked it. You can do it with tuna, chicken...and pretty much anything else for the protein bit.

Also, you can 'tinker' to your hearts content with the other ingredients too. Hard boiled egg adds a certain something to it. Shame I've already eaten, I quite fancy one now!!

Chopped strawberry and apple goes well...and I could go on ~ and some say I do!

You got me hungry now!! Thank you I will give it a whirl :)

Feel free to fiddle with it to your heart's content. There is no fixed recipe, just good fun trying different things and combinations. Chopped strawberries work well, as do apples.

Try salmon or Tuna, or ham or cheese or whatever for the protein bit.

Not what you're looking for?
