That was tough for one my shorter ones!! The heat was unbearable!! - for a rain runner. The fact I left without water was not a great idea too! The abundance of midges that decided to take up residence in my mouth didn't bloody help matters either. To top it, I decided I would get off the canal and add a few hills- big mistake!! I didn't stop but I was not looking good! (at all!) I managed 14k at a very slow pace . Note too self - stick to your canal, you float through! Note to others BIG RESPECT for hill and road runners - I now know how tough your runs are! Keep at it!!
Tough Run: That was tough for one my shorter... - Couch to 5K
Tough Run
Amazing - I love that you can call 14k as one of your shorter runs!
So do I!! You did it Carole, that's the main thing. I know it's nicer to have a smooth run but you can't win em all. You might breeze through your next one
I ran tonight and it was still dead muggy even in my running vest. I didn't finish til 10.30 pm and it was still humid. Still there were no midges about! Thank heavens for that!
Ah then you get it! The heat!! I wish I had a running vest on!! Although I have never come so close to jumping in that bloody canal! 10.30? Wow!! tucked up in bed then! I am really aching today which shows how difficult and different it is. I think I may have start later runs too (past 7) now cannot stand that heat! Lets both enjoy our rest day! x
I think later is great as not so many folks about so you can puff and pant to your heart's content! I don't listen to music though as I think you need your wits about you when it's dark
and I keep my eyes peeled. I saw a fox last night!
Sounds like you had a tough run, Carole! I must admit I'm not a fan of running in hot weather and the thought of eating all those midges! Mind you, I suppose it could be a protein boost
Thanks Paul- Its my run day and it is boiling already here!! (Somerset/devon border!) Lots of water required!!!
