Heavy legs

I always take a good 5 mins or so to get past the heavy legs/heavy breathing stage. After that things settle down and you get into a nice rhythm. Just don't panic and you'll get through it x

Oh yes, I think it's only just started to pass, been running for 18 months now

Perfectly normal although you could double-check your laces aren't tied together...
On a slightly more serious note this is what the rest day is for and the opportunity to try strengthen exercises.

Also make sure your legs are stretched properly before setting out!!

Warm-up walk for 10 mins rather than 5. I read it on here, tried it, and it certainly seems to stop that horrible feeling of the lactic acid build-up in muscles - I seem to be past that by the time I start running, if I do a longer warm-up.
