C25K problems!
I have just done that run too and found it really tough. I think I expected it to be easy after the 20 min run last week and it just wasn't. I was probably going faster but who knows. Possibly you have a bug with the ear and throat problem but you are not alone in thinking it was a tough run. Rest up for a couple of days and try run 2 that's what I will be doing
Hi, yes I thought it would be easy too! And I did go faster on the first bit, down hill with the wind pushing me, it was difficult to slow! Its great just having some feedback from someone else makes you think what you did! Thanks. Don't think I have a bug, just have temperemental ears in the winter! Well at least I hope not! Thanks
I've read on many occasions when runners have stumbled a bit on this run, so your not on your own. Added to which it sounds as if you are coming down with a cold. Put it behind you and positive pants on for the next run. Take it easy, not too fast too soon and you will do it. Even runners who have been at it for years have the odd bad run, its all part of the learning curve, lets face it, if it was all too easy it wouldn't be a challenge and there would be no satisfaction in it.
Thank you for your positive comments. I'll keep plugging away!
I doubt there are many on this forum that haven't had the odd bad run, don't let one bad un, put you back after getting this far.
I totally agree with Oldgirl, everyone has "bad" runs. I try to avoid calling them bad runs - just try and learn from them, or just come away knowing it was tough but you didn't give up and you can come back and try again. I do remember week 6 being really tough - I was so exhilarated after Week 5 Run 3 that, mentally, it was tough to find the 8 minute runs such hard work. I think W5R3 is a big jump from the runs you did before and you need week 6 to recover. If your ears and throat are sore it's going to be tougher anyway. Have a rest day (or more if you feel rough) and then take the next run more slowly so you feel confident you can finish - speed can wait until later. Good luck
I've just completed week 6 and yes run 1 was hard, I did think how on earth am I going to make it to the end of week 6, run 2 was a little easier, I actually felt a bit frustrated stopping to walk half way through as I'd got into a comfortable stride. Run 3 was fine once I was halfway through and again got into a comfortable rhythm at that point I felt fairly confident. Best of luck!
