I've been running in good shoes but old stretchy clothes. Can anyone recommend a brand or online shop to buy proper autumn/winter gear?

You could check out Amazon & Sports Direct they have a range of all brands of running clothing. My preference for leggings is Nike Capri 3/4 length which I wear all year round. Some of the bigger supermarkets seam to do quite good running gear too, Lidl & Aldie's is very inexpensive but I've found very good and stand up to all the washing well too.

I like a Buff which keeps the very cold air out in the winter, Amazon have a good selection of them. Hope that helps a bit but I'm sure others will have more ideas for you.

Thanks for the advice, I've got a buff I bought years ago for skiing I'll have to dig it out and check out my local aldi.

I'm not a 'brand' person at all, but admit that I like the New Balance running tops best. They feel nice and soft and the sizing is good. I bought a couple of long-sleeved tops having being satisfied with the t-shirts. Shop around online and you'll find them at £15 or maybe even £10 for long sleeves.

I bought some of my running clothes at M&M Direct. I can't remember what, but you can get brand names for half price.

Thanks. It's always good to get recommendations from people who've tried things especially if your buying online. I will try New balance if the fabric and sizings are good.

Have a look in TK Maxx too. It can be a bit random but they can have some good stuff cheap.

I've been using Decathlon summer gear which I like because they have pockets for an ipod and keys. Don't know about their winter stuff.

If you've got an outlet place near you they usually have brands like Adidas, Reebock, Nike etc.

for a proper running shop for shoes and specialist gear I've always found Sweatshop really good.

I've heard good thing about Aldi and Lidls, but I've never got there in time to buy anything (they seem to sell quite quickly down here). I personally like Nike stuff, as it comes up big enough to fit me. I wear the 3/4 capris all year round, and I have a baselayer for the cold. Otherwise, I just have plain t-shirts from Dorothy Perkins. Sports bra wise, I've always had Shock Absorbers, and never had a problem with these. Socks, I have some Nike Dri Fit ones and Marks and Spencers sports socks - not much to choose between them (other than price).

I've been told running in cotton is bad in winter as once its wet it can make you cold. Nike may be the way to go as I probably need the room. Thanks for the information

My advice: don't over do it on the autumn/winter clothing. Better to start off feeling child than finish over heating.typically in winter I run in a light weight long sleeved top, leggings. Gloves can be useful in really cold weather, but hats are a liability because you soon end up carrying them.

Thanks crox,I do get hot when I run, and trying to tie things round your waist or stuff pockets while continuing to move can be tricky. I think I will take your advice and just make sure I finish close to home so I don't get cold at the end.

Can I just add a recommendation for New Balance tops?? I just bought one online for a tenner, and its fab!! I got an XL, I am a size 18-20 and it fits perfectly, its warm enough for chilly Scottish mornings, and is neon pink so no one will miss me in the winter darkness ;-)

Also I have a pair of Hummel running leggings and shorts, and again they are fab! Wick away moisture much more than my bog standard tesco leggings and much comfier. Also a tenner, also an XL was a perfect fit for me :-)

Thanks. There are some good bargains online if you shop around. I will definitely look out for New Balance.
