I feel that my running is getting slower.

Since i picked it up again about a month ago I got bad shin splints and/or cramp in my lower legs that would last into the night time. Something I never got when I was going through the programme. I stopped focussing on speed and distance and got back to basics, running for twentyfive minutes.

Yesterday I did my first 5k in months in a total time of 39 minutes - 10 minutes slower than my record, and 7 minutes slower than what would have been my normal pace.

It feels very strange to be having these issues. I'm still logging my runs with Mapmyrun and just doing what I can, but I still long to get back up to where I could do 10k with not many issues!

Hi HH I was wondering where you were, good to see you back. If you've not been running at all for a while I would suggest you take things slowly to start off with anyway. Get your stride back but do it gradually, it will come back. I've had two spells were I've had injuries and each time I've come back I've been slower by about 5-6 minutes for a 5K. Its very frustrating, I've moaned about it too. Advice from others and now I'll pass it on. Take it easy, steady wins the race in the end, not a race I know but you will win through just take it easy and you won't get any injuries to add to your frustration. Wishing you all the best and keep blogging it helps to keep a person motivated.
