Somehow i am only managing 2.5k in 25mins. the 5 mins being my warm up session. what incline and speed am i supposed to be running on. Well Week one done finally i had some days off last week hence my completeing week 1 in 2 weeks. I am grateful to be gradually becoming a runner. This is looking like a hobby in the making.

Well done. Slow and steady is what is required. Don't think about distance at this stage. The idea of the program is to build up stamina ...speed comes later.

Ok thanks Lycranotlikely i was just wondering. Good to know i am on track.

Hi Keco,

I think i was doing 2 and half miles in the half hour when i first started but as i started to jog for longer distances this went down - to one an half miles in half an hour around week 3 i think I was jogging slower than I walked but reasoned as least I was still jogging and not giving up.. As i have got used to jogging for a longer time I am slowly starting to pick up speed so I am on week 5 and doing two miles in half an hour. I am sure as I start to jog longer for more sessions this will increase again.

So don't worry you are doing fine, keep going

Agree - don't worry about distance - although the programme is called couch to 5k, the real aim is to get you running continuously for 30 minutes. I could only run 3k at the end of the 9 weeks :) , but have since built up to 5k (but still slowly) and then 10k (still very slowly!) and can now do a shorter distance at closer to a running pace than a walking pace.

Enjoy your success at being active - that's the most important bit! :)
