I blew a disk in my lower back and a chunk of bone was pressing against the nerve. I can tolerate a lot of pain. I’m no girly man. I’ve had toes crushed at work on bleeding hydrolic equipment when a co worker turned on a machine. I broke three toes and worked my shift. I’ve had serious knee injuries. Got in a motorcycle wreck and hit a culvert sandwiching myself which split my spleen in half. I’m not accident prone per se. I was younger and high on weed. Being stupid. But I’ll tell you that disk jammed into the nerve was the most intense pain I’ve ever been in. I saw electricity flash across my eyes. That was some terrible pain. I had surgery on it but was left with numbness in my leg and foot.

I feel your pain. I was 56 when a "simple surgery" almost killed me. Six months later I was diagnosed with emphysema and lung cancer, lost the upper left lobe. Since then I have had surgery on both shoulders, had my gallbladder removed, and 2 incisional hernias repaired. Seven months ago I lost the upper right lobe to lung cancer. I just turned 62 and I'm still here.

I've had moments where I've felt the same as you, but you will get through this.

Every time things go sideways I try to remind myself that "this too shall pass".
