Never heard of that before. I thought if you have copd and are on oxygen, you have to use it the rest of your life. If you find anything out about weaning from oxygen let me know. Very curious. Thanks

A lot of people disagree with me doing this that I felt like my lungs were getting weaker by using oxygen all the time and my stats are going down when I went for walks even using oxygen so I decided to try it without oxygen I started walking not far maybe a block and I would rest walk another black and rest. Until I walked about 4 blocks then I would do the same on the way back. Took my time as I wasn't doing anything anyway. I was sleeping with it but it wouldn't stay in my nose or I pulled it out when I woke up my SATs were still at 95 so now I don't sleep with it. I don't use it when just resting the only time I use it and threatened I'm in the kitchen putting dishes away or loading the dishwasher are coming back from driving and then I usually on use it for a couple of minutes lot of people think that I shouldn't be doing this but I felt my loans for getting weaker by using oxygen too much I used the water when I walk the seat where I can rest this really works for me and I feel like I'm getting stronger the only problem I have is when I go to the store I still have to use a scooter I am trying to go out twice a day now but I've only done that once I don't do it every day because sometimes I'm too tired but I try to do it at least once a day

I'm in the exact same position. And sometimes my Pulse Oximeter readings were ridiculous - 99, 98.

That is a good question. It would kind of make sense that if you are mild to moderate COPD, and need supplemental oxygen because your lungs are weak or your breathing is too shallow, then exercising, doing deep breathing, etc. could help strengthen your lungs and improve your breathing making supplemental oxygen unnecessary?

I can't imagine any case in which someone with severe COPD could wean themselves off of supplemental oxygen.

I agree with you katherinek. When I sit still w/o oxy I feel ok but my stat slowly goes down.. I was severe by the time I went on oxy but I was also still doing housekeeping at the hospital until I had to keep hanging on to something with 1 hand all the time then I figured it was time to retire

I have done it. I use oxygen less then 5 minutes a day my diagnosis was severe had part of my lung removed as well.
