Friend with rectal cancer. Did radiation/ostomy

I am trying to help a friend who had his rectum removed about 2 1/2 years ago. He had radiation and he said chemo in pill form.

I am trying to understand his situation so I can help him.

He said the latest scans show he has cancer in his urethra. Though he said his cancer is moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma in the prostecic bed. I know he said they had to do some cleaning of cells around his prostate at the time of his surgery.

I am very well acquainted with prostate cancer, though am having difficulty understanding his situation.

I believe my husband has adenocarcinoma prostate cancer!

They are now wanting him to do heavy hitting chemo for 6 months, Irinotecan, Fluorouracil and Calcium Leucovorin.

I am in the Advanced Prostate Group and wondering what is the best place to get some information on this particular situation. Is it this group?

I don't think he understands his situation that clearly. He is 79. I want to help him clarify what he is dealing with so that he can make the right choices. He's a friend of over 45 years. His wife died 3 years ago. I'd like to be able to ask the right questions so we can sort this out. Thanks for any help. Bluebird11
