Hello friends

I have colostomy for last 5 year. Very less awareness here about colostomy. I am looking a friend, who has also, because, I feel he/she only understand the problems and discussion on ostomy LIFESTYLE. If anybody interested plz pm me.

Hi,I understand what you are going through. No one to talk to who gets how you are feeling. I have had a colostomy for 2 years. I went in for a routine operation and they cut my bowels twice,so I wasn't expecting to have a stoma,I hate having one.

Thanks you understand my feelings. Only an Ostimate can feel others Ostimate emotions. After colostomy my entire life style changed. I will My pleasure, if chat further on Ostimate problems n lifestyle. If you feel comfortable with me. I would like to chat on Gmail.

since having my colostomy everything is different. I have stopped going out,don't feel confident anymore. I used to love going out and meeting new people,now I stay home. I am married with 3 grown up sons and 2 grandchildren. But find it hard to talk to them as they don't get how you feel. I still have an open wound so have nurses in every day to change my dressings. I have been told it can't be reversed so can't see an end to it.

You mean you don't use any bag over the stoma?

I think all Ostimate have bag to collect poo.

I have 2 grown-up child. I am 53 old.

What is your age n County?

yeah I use a bag,I had to have a laparotomy it was left open as my bowels were so swollen. Then I got sepsis. By that time my stomach muscles had retracted so they couldn't close the wound. That has still not healed. I am 50 and live in Nottingham.
