Hello!I am 19 years old.I had been suffering from hemorrhoids for 1.5 years.Recently i took medicine for hemorrhoids.Recently after having a bowel movement. It feels like its not empty. There is always a pressure like i have to go to toilet again for another bowel movement. Then i searched and found its a symptom of colon cancer. But i have no bleeding.I have no abdominal pain. But i have pain on the lower back side because of the constant pressure. Is it cancer?I am really scared and depressed.

Hi Tasin,

Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I hate that you're having these symptoms, but I wouldn't go right to the cause is being colon cancer. You said you had a history of hemorrhoids for the past year and a half and started a new medication it looks like. Perhaps the new medication is causing some kind of constipation feeling? If this symptom of not feeling like you're completing a bowel movement started when the medication started, I would focus there. No bleeding and no abdominal pain are definitely good signs. The pain in your lower back is probably from the constipation but perhaps that's a good thing to get checked out with your doctor. 👍

There are a lot of things that could be causing what you're experiencing. Is there any family history of health issues? Is there a family history of colon cancer? I think if you went back to your doctor that prescribed the medicine for hemorrhoids, they may have some good input for you. Maybe it's a dosing issue? Sometimes these medications need to be dialed in to the individual. I would also share with your doctor any supplements you may be taking or other medications that may be involved. This may help your doctor as you be presenting the big picture that could possibly be causing your symptoms.

We do wish you the best in finding a solution to what you're experiencing. I would definitely question your doctor about your new medication for hemorrhoids and what you're experiencing. You could also share with them that you know it may be a symptom for colon cancer and you're not sure if you should be worried about that. I do not think it would be something sinister causing these symptoms. I would probably focus on the medicine and the dosing issue as that looks to be the new thing involved with your health.

If you visit your doctor and find out a solution to your issues, please let us know. It is that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site.

Thank you,

~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.

No,i have no family history.I am just having these problems.I don't know if its constipation.Because when i go to poop its not hard to push whatever the amount is.Its just i feel like some amount is not coming out. This is causing the discomfort. As i said i took 14 days antibiotic course for hemorrhoids. And then after a few days this discomfort started. Its almost 5 days now.I had rectal bleeding which was a long time ago which maybe because of hemorrhoids. But i didn’t notice any bleeding for 9/10 months.Whenever i get this feeling i go to toilet and have a bowel movement but amount is small. But even after having a bowel movement it doesn't improve. This discomfort remains.

So, this started shortly after you did an antibiotic regimen. One thing I would do is look at that antibiotic side effects. Maybe this is a storm that needs to be ridden out because of the antibiotics you were on? Probably the best way is to check back with the doctor and ask about what you're experiencing. They probably have a lot more experience with the antibiotic you were on and have seen others who may have had similar side effects as well. It definitely wouldn't hurt to ask those questions.
