Positive fit and normal coloscopy

How many people here have had a positive fit test and a normal coloscopy?

I have found there to be a lot of positive FIT tests that turn out not to be cancer. Catching things early is the key. There can actually be a lot of different reasons for having blood in the stool. Something is causing the bleeding and that's what needs to be determined. And colonoscopy can discover a lot Like a polyp that may be bleeding or an internal hemorrhoid, to the cause of an anal fissure. All those symptoms could possibly cause a positive FIT test.

A “normal colonoscopy” for me might include the removal of a polyp in an early stage to showing absolutely nothing at all. If you have had a positive FIT test and it can't be attributed to an external hemorrhoid or anal fissure, then either a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy would need to be done to give you the answer. There can be a lot of things that are not cancer related when determining the cause of a positive FIT test.

Hi, I am one of those people. Just had some benign polyps taken out and a few biopsies which were all negative. No cancer. I do have internal haemorrhoids which were probably the cause. I am in the UK. Colonoscopy best thing to be sure. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. What I read alot is most with positive FIT do not have anything major found in colonoscopy.

what was your bleeding like? on the toilet paper, in the bowl, ON the stool, IN the stool? a combination of things? please let me know, I'm very worried and need to learn about other's experience while I wait for my colonoscopy appointment. thanks.

I have had haemorrhoids for years so am used to bleeding and anusol always is the the answer. This time I did not bleed but had a bad stomach pain and diarrhoea. The doc just asked me to do a fit test which to my surprise came up high. So the the two week pathway was put in action.. I think the blood detected may have been the haemorrhoids. But anyway all clear. Also diverticulosis detected so may have been that. Good luck for your colonoscopy, try not to worry.

I honestly had no bleeding just a positive FIT. I had colonoscopy and they found 1 little polyp removed it and told me to come back in 5 years.

thanks for your response. it's always confusing as to various people's experience of on the toilet paper or actually mixed in with stool when it comes to hemmroids. I suspect I have hemmroids too... don't know if it's internal or external. blood is slight and mixed in with stool. no blood anywhere else. Thanks again. stay well 🙂
