Hi Florence, do not put off contacting your doctor. You need to have tests to see what is causing this. You are young and do not be put off with just too young to be anything serious. Most likely it could be lots of things that aren’t, but it has to be looked in to. Do you have any family history of bowel problems? Stress does not help with these things so make that appointment now. Wishing you the best and remember get that appt and put your mind at rest.
I would get it to checked out so as to not stress. Do you not want to see a Dr or afraid it could be the worst case scenario(funny how we always go to worst case scenario isn't it ) ? Diverticulitis caused blood in mine awhile back. I corrected my whole gut microbiome after that , so it was really just a huge blessing in disguise.
Thanks for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. You've already gotten some great advice here. Your being terrified and the anxiety is all from not knowing the answers to what is going on. What you are experiencing can have many different causes. Yes you are young and that's a big plus, but what you are experiencing definitely needs to be checked out by a doctor so you can get on a path of getting well and moving on from it.
Blood in the stool and abdominal pain are two signs that definitely need a doctor's insight. If there is a family history of similar signs, that will be an important piece of information to share with the doctor. Given what you are experiencing, you may be scheduled for a colonoscopy to get further get you some good answers as to what the cause is.
You are young and that's a plus, but it doesn't mean you should try to ignore these signs. I am a stage 4 colon cancer survivor and I wish I had some surveillance by a doctor much earlier in my life. I can't tell you how beneficial it is to catch things early and deal with it. It is what it is and there's no shame in finding out what's going on and getting on a path to wellness.
We do wish you the very best. Please get to the doctor and get it checked out. And do let us know what you find out as this type of information can be extremely beneficial to others on this site.
Thank you,
~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.
