I am terrified, they have found an obstruction last week and are moving like lightening!

I have had a pain on my RH side under my rib cage for years. Some pain also on the left on the odd occasion. I have sat with a number of GP's asking for this to be investigated as I had to call 111 on two separate occasions. I also have MS. My GP has failed me in spectacular fashion. Regardless of my poor medical condition and having a paralysed bowel. My GP referred me as non urgent. I myself had to force here to expedite my CT scan. I have taken a ton of vile preparation in readiness for what ever procedure they have waiting for me. I am told it will all be carried out under a GA.

First patient on the list, one of the three complicated cases for tomorrow. Very tired, feeling sick, tired and apprehensive. Has anyone been through this, the obstruction is in the large bowel and they also casually mentioned Diverticulosis!

Hi there hon. I completely understand you feel petrified. I went to the specialist with what turned out to be uterine polyps which have now been successfully treated but she found a lump in my bowel which needed investigating as I have lost a lot of weight. I also had bleeding from my bottom with lots of noisy bowel movements and indigestion. I was convinced I had bowel cancer but the CT scan was clear and the lump disappeared! I've no idea what caused it and although I am now having a lump in my neck investigated and have also found a breast lump it appears I do not have bowel cancer after all. So try not to convince yourself you have it. I also have other health conditions which may have masked other things but I am trying not to convince myself it's bad until faced with a positive result because you simply can't correctly predict a diagnosis. Hope all turns out fine for you xx

Hi, thank you so much for this.

It is good news for both of us!

I am all clear too. Despite my letter and phone call to say that I had an obstruction. (All very worrying and upsetting). It is fantastic to have online support from people who care. I am so happy and will not life roll on by any longer. Despite the MS, it is time to go swimming again. There are some lovely people in this World and you are one of them. Please do keep in touch, we are here for each other in this World. Life is so precious. At my ripe old age, I am still learning!

Tess x

Hi lovely reply thanks. I'm not feeling very lovely or positive this morning unfortunately. Still losing weight and just feel that it's got to be something bad but have to find the strength to see what the results are tom and to push for further investigations particularly of my breast if nothing else. I convinced myself a clear mammogram meant it was ok but I don't think it is. I will prob post when I know more x

Where are you based? I had to push like crazy to get my CT expedited. If I can help I will. Make them move and get you better. I have had two breast screening's both clear thank God. You must find out, it's the anxiety of waiting that will not help with the weight loss too. Fight fight fight, with everything you have got in your body. I am here for you. I do mean it, if you are UK based I am good at getting to CEO's of our hospital's. Let me know. Tess xx

Oh Tess you are so kind. I know I am very lucky to have private insurance and have had a lot done quickly. I am in Leeds. I only noticed symptoms early March and since then have had uterine polyps removed which cured my non stop bleeding. I have had a CT scan of my bowel and reproductive system which was clear but am seeing the specialist as to whether they still want to do a colonoscopy on the 30th. Tomorrow I am back at the ENT specialist after an ultrasound on my neck lump which they think is ok although I do have one in my thyroid which may need investigation bearing in mind the weight loss. He was the first person to test my blood for everything so that may show something. Whatever though I know I have to have my breast checked again as it's not right. My mum died of breast cancer which spread so I have had 2 mammograms since I was 48 both clear but I relaxed after that despite being able to feelpain and nodule type things tha t pull when I move. I suppose I've been too scared to investigate them after that. Now I have a shoulder pain and pulling all the time and a weird lump under my right foot. I feel like a right hypercondriac and have learnt I'm not a very positive person but I know you are right and must fight whatever it is for my family. The anxiety of waiting is bad enough for me so I don't know how some people cope

I have had diverticulitis for years - when I get discomfort, it usually means I will need the loo within half an hour.

I found a lump in my sigmoid, which was slightly uncomfortable, so I sent off the bowel screening kit and had a colonoscopy and polypectomy.
