So for the past 4 months I have had stabbing pain in my rectum, it's an internal pain. The past 4 weeks it has got so much worse to the point that sitting on my bottom in to painful I am unable to do it. I have also started to have diarrhoea in the past weeks. The pain is now migrating into my abdomen so it just started in the rectum and now it is in rectum and abdomen. I have seen my gp they did a rectum exam and said nothing was wrong I had no internal or external piles, no tears nothing. So she said I was fine. I'm concerned because it is getting worse and not to sure what to do? Any advise would be helpful. Thank you

Stabbing pain in rectum
Hi Lidslife,
Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected. I'm sorry that these symptoms are causing you discomfort and pain.
Perhaps schedule another appointment with different other GP? This just doesn't seem right as you are experiencing pain and discomfort. You should demand a better answer as you expressed it has progressed into your abdomen.
Are there any others symptoms that may be useful for diagnosis? Has anything changed as far as digestive issues? Is the pain internal or external, or both. It might be both as you said there is some abdominal pain. Is there a family history of this issue?
I am sorry your GP told you what they did. You should definitely seek better answers. That should be your focus. We do wish you the best to solve this issue. Maybe someone else in this community has had to deal with something similar and can help with a solution. In the mean time, I'd be looking for a second opinion.👍🤟
Please let us know what you find out and post it here. Information like that can be very helpful to others who may find themselves in the same situation.
All the best from us. ❤️

Hi, thank you so much for getting back to me, I have lost my appetite, not completely but just hardly ever hungry. I called the Gp and they have no appointments for 3 weeks, so I think I’m going to see if I can get an appointment with a different GP. The pain is internal in the rectum. Also sometimes when I eat after a few hours I get really bloated it could be anything I eat! I also never feel like I have completely emptied my bowel, kinda like I need to go more but nothing comes out!
I’m not sure about family history. It’s just concerning and as I’m only 21 I get told that I’m to young to have any issue!!
Thank you again for getting into contact with me
Hi Lidslife,
I am so sorry you're having to continue to deal with this. You're doing the right things, you're just not getting acceptable answers. I would think going to a different GP may be best.
You are in pain so there is some issue going on that you need to find out about. There has to be other evaluation tests that can be done to determine what's going on. To be in pain and told you're "fine" isn't acceptable as far as information you need.
And you are young. You have that going for you, but that doesn't mean you can't have a health issue at a younger age. I hope that wasn't a doctor that told you you're "too young to have any issue."
And 3 weeks out from getting an appointment. If you're in pain, you definitely need something sooner. Maybe there's a clinic where someone can see you right away and perhaps order some further tests? If you're pain is abdominal, I would think a CT scan would be in order to see what's going on. Be sure to get the doctor's opinion on that.
We are so sorry you are having these issues, but you know what to do and you are going to get it done. A different GP is a good idea and I hope it's not 3 weeks out as well. We hope there is a solution for you very soon. Please let us know what you find out and if there were any issues finding a different GP to see you right away.👍🤟❤️
