New I have had unexplained weight loss. Now been constipated flatulence stomach swollen blood in faeces is this I bowel cancer weight bearing in buttocks. My weight lose is horrendous.

Was taken to hospital with stomach pains waiting for colonoscopy? Is that just to confirm cancer? I do not have piles.

I understand due to covid but i am i to assume its bowel cancer.

Cant speak to anyone for 4 weeks. Feel I need to speak to consultant or someone dont know procedure. As I appear to have all the symptoms do I wait to find out if it is or do symptoms say it is, can I have symptoms and it not be sorry rambling got other health issues overwhelmed if honest. Feel like bowels not emptying checking poo which is semi solid for blood constantly.

The surgerical dr I saw said I need to conserve my energy for colonoscopy cant stop crying really. Praying it isnt sure if you have all the symptoms you have bowel cancer I am 59 female dad had suspicious polyps in his 80s.

Sorry so long winded

Hello Hidden ,Thank you for posting and I'm so sorry for what you're experiencing and the anxiety it is causing.

Try your best not to convince yourself of what the colonoscopy results will show. I know that is easy for me to say for you to relax, and a lot harder to do. Many people find that the best way to decrease anxiety due to a health concern is through distraction.

A colonoscopy is for the doctor to be able to get a clean view of your colon, and take biopsies and remove polyps if necessary. It is not to confirm cancer - it is for them to see what is going on in your colon that is causing your symptoms. There are countless conditions and reasons beyond colorectal cancer that can cause symptoms. Of course colorectal cancer is a concern and we want you to go into this knowing that there are many possibilities for why you are experiencing symptoms.

Is your next appointment the actual colonoscopy or will you be speaking to a doctor in advance? It sounds like you have questions and you should have an opportunity to discuss what the procedure will be like, and have your other questions answered in advance of the colonoscopy.

Members here are happy to share their experience with colonoscopy, many of our members have had MANY over the years and you we can share a variety of experiences.

I want to make sure that we are not replacing any questions that should be answered by your medical doctor.

We understand how stressful this can be. We're here for you and hope you'll find support from our members.

The appointment is for colonoscopy. If I have all the symptoms doesn't that mean cancer. Sorry to stress but saw surgeon due to fact of severe pain and blood in stool had xray which shows constipation. Reading online it seems I have it. I didnt understand whst was being said to me so I am in a state of panic.

So how is it diagnosed sorry. I assumed once you have the symptoms the test shows how bad.

Hidden ,There's no way to know for certain if you have colorectal cancer until all the tests your doctor has determined are performed and they have the results.

I know the uncertainty must be causing extreme anxiety and distress, and I'm sorry for what you are experiencing.

We have heard from people who had all the symptoms and were sure that they thought they had colorectal cancer and did NOT have cancer. Other people have no symptoms at all and come out of a colonoscopy hearing the words "you have cancer."

I share this with you just to tell you that unless you've received a diagnosis, you are in that uncomfortable time of uncertainty and not knowing.

Some people will say that they wish they had not googled in advance of the colonoscopy because it can increase anxiety and there's nothing can you can do but wait until the colonoscopy.

Please take comfort in knowing that you are doing everything you "should" be doing - which is getting checked out. If you are diagnosed with colorectal cancer, we'll be here for you and also connect you with local resources that you may find useful. If you are diagnosed with a condition or gastrointestinal disease, we will connect you with resources for that particular condition.

The stress you are going through right now is very real, and if you are not currently speaking with a therapist, this may be something you could benefit from.

We will be thinking of you and hope that you are able to find some moments of distraction.

I think I will try to get some questions answered before hand as I was assuming the next stage was telling me how bad. I should stress the main intial concern was a drastic weight loss which intially was put down to stress but is now exceedingly worse. Symptoms really started or noticed January ie ongoing constipation then I notice blood poo was at some points dark. Anyway will try to get hold of my consultant

Hidden ,I think that's a great idea to get in touch with the consultant and have a conversation with them before your colonoscopy!

Please keep us posted.
