Dark red stool

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experienced like a little part of the stool which was red when they’ve been to the loo. I have had cases where I’ve had soft and hard stool together and the hard part of the stool had a part that was wine red. Like I investigated the piece and when smeared it was red. Could hemorrhoids cause this ? Cause I know hemorrhoids only cause blood on the outside don’t know if they cause red poop. Sorry for the tmi, I do wish I took a picture.

Hi Jazzy1990, did you get the stool test results back yet? I think that getting a colonoscopy may be the only way for peace of mind/to ease your anxiety. Please keep us updated.

I called my doctor and they said the colorectal surgeon will call me sometime this week with the results but they have the results. They will then see if they want me to have a sigmoidoscopy as I’m also pregnant at the moment.

I got the results for the fit test. It’s positive. High levels of blood, does that been it’s something serious if the level of blood is higher. I’m extremely worried and scared.

Hi Jazzy1990, Try your best to keep calm, I know that is hard to do when this has gone on for so long and you just want answers and relief. I think the best thing you can do now is to focus on getting that sigmoidoscopy scheduled that they said would be the next step if the FIT was positive. I'm not a Dr. and can't/won't give medical advice (so keep that in mind) - but I know a lot of people who have had positive FIT and it was due to blood in the stool from another cause. Do not give up hope yet there are still a lot of tests that need to be done to determine what is causing you issues. I'm sorry and hope you are able to find some relief. Deep breaths and keep us updated. We're here for you!

I know this response is a bit late, but if you are pregnant than the blood in the stool from the FIT test is likely from hemorrhoids.

I had blood on my stool well before pregnancy, if I developed it during pregnancy I would have thought hemorrhoids. But considering it’s been there this long and before I even name pregnant worries me.

Hi, thank God I’m still here. At the end they did a colonoscopy and found I had a very complex flat polyp I had a ESD procedure to take it out and then a 6 month check up and now I’m due my one year check up In 4 weeks. I had pre cancerous cells in that polyp so I’m so great dulz I had a colonoscopy.
