CLL centre of excellence

Does anyone know of any centres of excellence in France? I live in the mid/south of the country and currently see a haematologist in Montpellier.

The U.S. model really doesn't apply in France very well...

Thanks anyway. I thought that since there was a recent list of centres of excellence for the UK, there might be one for France as well.

Hi Tangergreen

After reading the list of collaborators in a fairly recent French CLL research paper on telomere length in early CLL there seem to be several potential candidates. I will put the feelers out tomorrow and see what comes back.

You can go to clinicaltrials.gov and search for example, 'CLL and France' , it will bring up major centers running CLL clinical trials... there are a few.

This assumes that research centers are 'centers of excellence' which may or may not be the case...

YOu are a born diplomat! Did you ever hear of a French institution which did NOT consider itself to be a centre of excellence?

Hi Tanergreen, I was under Dr DAVID Selva in Beziers for my Myleodisplasia (SMD - mds in english) until I moved North last year and yesterday saw a new one up here to continue with my bone marrow and blood checks in CHU Le Mans - but that's a bit far for you to travel! I found Dr DAVID very thorough and he took the BM sample himself on my 1st visit in 2012. I know SMD isn't CLL but the posts I read on here there always seem to queries about various aspects of blood cunts the names of which all ring bells with me because its my white and red cells counts that are checked via quarterly blood tests.

Ask your Doctor about him or there may be info on the internet. If not, pm me and I'll look out the phone no. for you. Of course it depends if you are more mid than South! Have you phoned AMELI on their english speaking helpline - perhaps they may be able to help you, just have your Carte Vitale to hand when you phone.

Best wishes in your Quest - Shirley.

Sorry, this is obviosly a re-vampec post only just seen it was posted 11months ago. I guess you found your specialist.
