Watch and Wait..time for a new term?

Dr. Kanti Rai coined this phrase back in 1995 when CLL was the 'good cancer to have', but things have moved forward, and perhaps the term 'watch & wait' needs to be reassessed.

What new term would you choose to replace 'watch and wait'?

Watchful Waiting is better but still beg the question what are we waiting for. To replace waiting with monitoring or investigation - at least that sounds like something being done.

Active monitoring is now being used by some UK medics, not sure how many or how often?. My first blog doodled with this . Active Investigative Monitoring with Support..

'Watch & Wait' has a sense of powerlessness about it.

'Active Monitoring' certainly sounds more pro-active.

I prefer to think I'm in a 'Consult & Consider' phase.

'In Care' is a state of being institutionalised in the UK so I'll pass on that one thanks! Lol

'Active monitoring' sums it up for me. Sometimes it is more active, sometimes not. I never did like 'watch' - too much like 'watch out!' and 'wait' has a sense of dread, especially when attached to an as yet incurable leukemia!

'Active Monitoring fits the bill in my opinion. Although I don't personally have a problem with 'Watch and Wait'

Once you have got your head round the meaning of it, it all makes sense I think.

I'm for 'Active Monitoring' too. It sounds as though some attention is being paid to the condition. There's nothing active in the phrase 'Watch and Wait' and compared to 'Active Monitoring' it's almost a bit dismissive.

I had never really thought about it. I am fortunate that my CLL was found by chance when an enlarged lymph node was biopsied. My blood counts have stayed normal for a year and I am on an annual visit to my specialist. I am certainly watching for signs of change and I am waiting for my next check-up (in a year's time). If my watching throws up something I don't like then the waiting will surely stop fast. I suppose in this case we are the one's responsible for the watching or monitoring. Monitoring somehow says to me that someone else might be doing that not me. Active monitoring sound somewhat like someone else is doing the monitoring.

As I say at the start I have not thought too much about this until I saw this thread and I am still not at all sure what term makes sense.
