I am positively buzzing after my two days at parliament in Wellington Aotearoa NZ as part of a summit focused on valuing life. I guess I had lost my confidence about stepping outside of my comfort zone to do something that validated my place as a useful member of society at my age. I think I was also dubious about travelling on my own which is so dumb since I have done that in so many places. My very strong Mum used to say ‘I feel like I have been thrown on the scrap heap’ and I think I was getting to that stage. Being part of a forum that could make such a difference to so many lives made me realise that I am indeed a placeholder and can help to make a difference. I am not looking for praise at all. It’s a two way street. Helping others helps you! And hopefully out of all this will come the funding of all or at least some of the first line treatments available in developed and some of the less developed countries in the world today. Many thanks to those great Australian innovators who came here and contributed. I guess the best thing that came out of it was that ‘ with union comes strength’ so as advocacy groups we will move forward as one under the already established Patient Voice Aotearoa. I definitely recommend getting involved with any cause if you are able.

Thank you for talking part of the forum. We now have a government that is providing funding for cancer treatments. Hope we can get some of the first line treatments.
Your commitment is appreciated. At least the new Government is prepared to look and listen. Hopefully they will see the value of investing in the latest technology.
