Its been quite a while since I have posted however I do jump in and out from time to time.
I have been on Ibrutinib for about 5+ years. Most numbers are in the normal range with the exception of my ALC which hovers around 5 -7.
Not sure if the Ibrutinib has any impact but my teeth are all starting to crack and I now need to consider a course of action for 3 missing teeth (all upper and towards the back one on the left and two beside each other on the right}. (had a root canal and crown on the only one that could be saved)
I am hoping some others have had to have implants while on treatment and can provide some input.
I will be seeing my doctor on April 9 and will be getting this thoughts as well.
Thank you for your assistance and any information /thoughts anyone is able to provide
Warmest regards
Heather

I would want a bone density test done. My dentist does not recommend implants in the elderly over 70. He will do them, but tells the patient they do not have as near a success rate with the implants staying in if the patient is 70 or above.
I had not thought about a bone density test and as I am on the sunny side of 70 it makes sense.
I had an implant done about 11 years ago and it still seems fine. During that one I did have a bone graft and I expect to require that part of the procedure this time
I understood from my dentist that upper implants usually require bone grafts
I'm 76, have had CLL for 16 years, and had one of my crowned tri's (molar) break off at the gum line. I had the 3 root legs extracted Dec 2023, and a graft was inserted. In Feb 2024, the doc decided to wait an extra month to allow the graft to develop more, and in March I had the implant inserted. I expect to have the replacement tooth installed in May.
There was no mention of age issues or negatives about CLL when we got the treatment plan
I had a bone graft and an implant but they were done by different dentists in different countries for an upper tooth and was just over 70. I am not on treatment for CLL and am still in W and W after being diagnosed in 2008
Please consider an evaluation with either an oral surgeon or periodontist for bone grafts and dental implants. They are the experts, not a GP dental practitioner. CLL could impact your healing time, as do so many other conditions. They will discuss that with you. I have never heard of an age restriction for implantation in the 45+ years I have been a dental professional.
