Stopping ibrutinib before a dental visit.

I started ibrutinib in September 2019. The hematologist told me to stop ibrutinib 3-5 days before a dental visit because of bleeding.

I have a dental appointment Monday. I stopped ibrutinib Wednesday and wonder if there any symptoms that can occur ?

You will probably have no issues. However, if you start noticing nodes popping up or pain in a node area I would contact your cll doc. Also, if you feel unusually tired/have trouble catching your breath.

I have been ibrutinib for 4 years and I have never be advised to stop for a routine dentist or hygienist appointment. I stopped for 7 prior and post back surgery only.

You haven’t mention what procedure? I did extraction, root canal, fillings and many more. So it depends what procedure and how low your numbers are?

Recent it is more fillings, broken tooth, pain in some teeth. Sometimes root canal.

I had an emergency bridge replacement and root canal 2 days ago thursday. I didn’t even had time to get ahold of my cll doc but my dentist is well aware of the CLL and type 1 diabetes and all went well!

I have never been told to stop before cleanings. I do bleed more than I used to. But I had a bleeding incident and had to stop for three weeks, which did stop the bleeding. I went back on as soon as I was allowed and honestly, I noticed no difference.

Hi, our oncologist told my husband who had the dental appointment to take an antibiotic 30 minutes before appointment but because of covid my husband canceled the appointment. Now we don’t know what to do with him, his dementia has gotten worst. He sees people, animals, and he sees another person and not his wife. It’s so sad tried to make appointment with neurologist but they won’t see him. He has wondered out of the house at night , fell , and got picked up by strangers. They took him to another town before calling our police. . The family wants him to stop Ibrutinib. I don’t know what to do. He has 37k wbc and has to go 6 hrs to see oncologist for

Meds.
