Is it typical to have high hematocrit with CLL?I was diagnosed in 2020 with a favorable prognosis.
I see oncologist each 4 months. It's the longest interval she permits.
My last appointment I had:
WBC 15.0
HCT 51%
My MD has suggested possibly (about a year ago but nothing since then) taking hydroxyurea. However, that discussion has not resurfaced.
I have had to have blood withdrawn about 5 times to lower the hematocrit. Since 2020.
My next appointment is this Wednesday, 7 February.
I feel great. I exercise, I travel very often by plane, I have learned to speak a new language and I have no idea what I should be feeling like with CLL. But I am told that altitude raises hematocrit which can make the problem worse. Also, those with CLL in Mexico City, DF, are living at @8500'. Higher than the altitude in a pressurized plane.
Does anyone have experience with this?
