Has anyone here experienced some memory issues while on ibruvica and venetoclax treatments
Unfortunately my mother can only handle 100mg of venetoclax a day for a couple months now and I see she’s forgetting more easily or she seems a little off
I had taken her for a brain ct scan last march if I remember correctly and everything was well no dymemsia everything was normal for her age 82

Is her Hb normal or on the lower side? I had some neurological issues (or so it seemed to me) and when I discussed it with a clinical psychologist (I thought I was going crazy because of the forgetfulness, not seeing things at first glance and then noticing them later) and she explained that all these symptoms were perfectly normal for someone who has had a very low Hb for a long period of time - basically my brain was not getting the amount of oxygen it needed and this was the way it effected me...it was a relief but going through that period and realising something was totally off - I was really quite alarmed about it before I chatted with her.
Consider tracking her disease with a free online stidy called APT Study. The Alzheimer Prevention Trials (APT) Webstudy is an online registry designed to accelerate enrollment for Alzheimer's disease clinical trials by identifying and tracking individuals who may be at higher risk for developing Alzheimer's dementia. After signing up, participants will go online to fill out a brief assessment of their cognitive abilities and complete a 20-minute test to assess their memory and thinking skills. The test will be repeated every three months, and participants will have access to their scores. I've been a member for 2 years and find it very useful.
There are notes of memory loss whilst on Ibrutinib, the McMillan site gives it as a rate side effect and the drug does pass through the blood brain barrier. Personally, I felt my memory deteriorated whilst on Ibrutinib too.
Having said all that coincidence is not the same as causation and your mother is 82 so some memory loss of probably to be expected. This is something that needs discussing with her CLL Doctor.
One additional thing to check. Has your Mom had COVID? There are any number of things that have been linked to long COVID including “brain fog” which can affect short term memory. And it can affect the elderly even worse. Just a thought. Hope you can get some answers.
