Hi I have Covid again after being negative from the first bout 3 weeks again! Haven’t been anywhere so don’t know how its reared its head again, waiting on Respiratory Team to contact me again.

In the UK we can get free tests with CLL, anyone got the free ones from the Chemist and what do we need to prove we are entitled to them, thanks

Will

As I understand it, being immunocompromised can allow the disease to hang on and even mutate. It may be that your case of covid didn't actually leave. I've read that the LFT tests can be good at indicating infectiousness, but I wonder if you should get a PCR test?

Have you reached out to your doctor? We all have different versions of CLL, and you mentioned ( healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo... ) that you started Acalabrutinib in January 2022, so I'm curious if you were able to able to get a vaccine? BTKIs inhibit our ability to mount covid antibodies.

I'm no expert, but hope you get some expert advice soon.

I asked at my local chemist and I have an e mail saying I am immunocompromised. I wanted to know if they were giving them. I told her I have cll and she gave me a pack without evidence. I do collect meds from there and she knows me. Sorry you have covid. I have escaped it so far. I hope you get help, Anne uk

I went to my usual pharmacy and they gave me a box with 5 tests free of charge. I took my email from the government about being immunocompromised, but they didn't need to see that. They know me there, but as I am still on watch and wait, they don't really know that I have CLL. I hope you feel better soon.

I also got a pack of five LFT tests from a local, independent pharmacy. I showed my latest haem report. That was the same day after being told by Boots that they had none and there were none in the area!

I did take my latest letter from Oncology with me to my usual pharmacy just in case, but she said that she didn't need to see it and I also did not need to fill in a form.

She offered me a second pack of 5 to save me a journey, which I gratefully accepted, and also added my wife's name to my record so that she could easily collect a pack on my behalf in the future.

If only it was as easy to get brilliant, common sense service like that from the GP surgery!

Rebound covid? Fake megative.

Do you think the negative was actually a fake result then?

It is possible because it happens sometimes. People test negative after a few days and then again after several days they test positive again but it is the same virus.

Yeah possibly, after 3 weeks I started working from home, was completely normal by the Thursday and went to the gym, Friday did the shopping and felt really good, then Saturday night it started again. Haematologist thinks its a bacterial virus that would also test positive as I have a bad sore throat. Hey ho hopefully start to feel normal again soon. 👍

I thought you said you didn't go anywhere but you've been to the gym and shopping 🙂? That sure counts as somewhere.

I got some from local pharmacy after searching for 'community pharmacy' on line(many pharmacies aren't participating) i took my most recent letter from haematology team and signed their paper work ..all very straightforward and easy..Not all Boots branches are participating near me in Somerset

Another thumbs up for Boots. I got them very easily at our local Boots. Just showed a letter from the Marsden that I got during lockdown. I don't think that they are being too demanding about the proof of need. I am also recovering from a lengthy bout of COVID much worse than the last time I had it. Good luck.
