hello! Does anyone know if massages are contraindicated when you have CLL? Greetings and thanks
Massages: hello! Does anyone know if massages... - CLL Support
Massages
CLL cells are already in our blood and lymph nodes, so unless you are in the early stages of SLL, with the CLL/SLL confined to the originating node, it's already systemic, so massage is not contraindicated when you have CLL. Some cancer centers provide massages to patients from masseurs trained in how to massage people with blood cancers.
I'd recommend verifying the infection risk is acceptable, given you'll be in close contact with the masseur and you'll want the massage table to be cleaned before your massage, particularly near where you place your face.

I would just add the obvious - if you have swollen lymph nodes or an enlarged spleen, avoid massage of those areas. Otherwise massage can be a beneficial and therapeutic experience for us.
I had two successful therapies and I always did massagesIt improves blood circulation, so when you are in treatment it may even be beneficial.
Thanks for asking that I literally going to ask the same question
I hope not. I have been getting a monthly massage for years without any issues.
Been getting therapeutic massages since 1999. Didn't stop after I was officially diagnosed in 2019. I average a massage every 7-10 days.
I've never had a swollen spleen or enlarged lymph nodes. If I did, I might feel differently about getting massages.
